Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim, celebrated Vanamahotsava on 11th July 2026 with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to environmental conservation. Organized by the Climate Action and Sustainability Club, the celebration aimed to nurture ecological awareness and responsibility among the youth.
The programme began with a morning assembly where the Std. XI Science students were inducted as ‘Green Ambassadors’ and took a solemn pledge to protect nature, plant more trees and promote a greener environment. This was followed by a meaningful prayer for the preservation of our planet.
The celebration continued with a plantation drive on the school campus under the guidance of Tr. Jenifer Godinho, Club Teacher Coordinator. Students enthusiastically planted saplings while raising slogans such as “Go Green, Keep Nature Clean!” and “Nurture Nature for a Brighter Future!” The Rotary Club of Panaji generously sponsored flowering plants, which were distributed among teachers and students to encourage greenery at school and at home.
The Club also launched two meaningful initiatives for the Higher Secondary section of around 600 students—‘Adopt-a-Plant’, encouraging every student to nurture a plant, and ‘Upcycling Plastic Waste’, using discarded plastic bottles to create simple micro-drip irrigation systems that conserve water.
The celebration was a meaningful step towards building a greener, more responsible and environmentally conscious Bosco community.
