Vanamahotsava Celebration

QUICK BITE -

On 3rd July, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim, celebrated Vanamahotsava with great enthusiasm by organizing a tree plantation drive in the school campus. The event, held under the theme “Go Green, Breathe Clean”, was spearheaded by the Eco Club to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices.

The primary aim of the initiative was to encourage afforestation, reduce carbon footprint, and instill a sense of responsibility towards nature among students. The objectives included propagating tree conservation, enhancing green cover, and fostering a healthier ecosystem within the school premises.

The drive was guided by the Teacher Coordinator, Ms. Jenifer Godinho e Braganza, who motivated the Eco Club leaders, Santoshi Gaonkar and Shourya Gandhi, to mobilize student participation. The event saw collaboration with key stakeholders, including the City Corporation of Panjim, Rotary Club of Panjim, and officials from the Forest Department, who generously provided saplings. The school Principal, Fr. Tamatur Cardozo, extended his full support, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship. NSS Coordinator, Sir Nilesh Pai, also presided over the function, reinforcing the role of youth in ecological conservation

Through this initiative, students gained hands-on experience in planting and nurturing saplings, learning the significance of growing their own oxygen for a healthier future. The event successfully raised awareness about deforestation, climate change, and sustainable living. The formative processes included teamwork, leadership development, and community engagement, as students worked together to plant trees. The drive also strengthened the school’s commitment to eco-friendly practices, aligning with global environmental goals. Overall, the Vanamahotsava celebration was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on students and the school ecosystem.
