10th International Yoga Day

The NSS Unit of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim Goa, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education and Sports and the NSS Unit of Don Bosco College, Panjim, celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21, 2024, at the Don Bosco Bicentenary Hall from 7 a.m. to 7.50 a.m. This event marked a significant achievement in promoting health, wellness, and community spirit through the practice of yoga.


##The program began with a warm welcome address by the NSS Leader, Gurunath Ghadi. Mr. Sachin Parsekar, Instructor of Physical Education and Sports at Government College, Borda, and Mr. Sahil Dhavlikar, alumnus and yoga specialist, were specially invited to share their extensive knowledge of yoga and conduct a special session for all staff and students.


##In his address, Fr. Tamatur Cardozo, Rector and Principal of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School and Assistant Director of Don Bosco College Panjim, emphasized, "Yoga teaches us to be disciplined and helps us stay rooted. I encourage everyone to lead a healthy lifestyle and take care of their mental health." His inspiring words resonated deeply with the attendees, highlighting the holistic benefits of yoga.

Shri. Nilesh Pai, NSS Program Officer of Don Bosco Higher Secondary, and Mr. Ryan Pereira, the College Director of Physical Education and Sports, felicitated Mr. Sachin Parsekar and Mr. Sahil Dhavlikar and expressed their gratitude for conducting a wonderful yoga session.


##This year’s International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and was a resounding success, fostering community spirit and promoting the ancient practice of yoga among people of all ages and backgrounds. The theme for this year’s Yoga Day was “Yoga for Self and Society.” Various asanas were taught to the participants, including warm-up exercises, sitting, and standing asanas, which were performed with great zeal.

The session was well-attended by students and staff, who left with a deeper understanding of yoga’s benefits and techniques, encouraging ongoing practice for enhanced well-being. The participants expressed their appreciation for the event, noting the positive impact it had on their physical and mental health.



##Ms. Aliya Mangueshkar, Assistant NSS Leader, proposed the vote of thanks, bringing the event to a close on a note of gratitude and hope for continued practice and benefits from yoga.This year’s celebration not only highlighted the importance of physical health but also underscored the significance of mental well-being and community harmony, making it a memorable and impactful event.
