Report of the Swachhta Hi Seva (Cleanliness Drive) on 2nd October 2023 organized by the Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim Goa

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the NSS Unit and Social Reach Out Club/Photography Club of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School under the guidance of P.O’s Sir Nilesh Raya Pai, Tr. Muriel Alphonso, Tr. Archana Shetye ( Tr. Incharge of Social Reach Out Club) and Tr. Ruth Fernandes (Tr. Incharge of Photography Club) organized a cleanliness drive on 2nd October 2023 in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Panjim and CCP, Panjim. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of 52 students of all the streams along with 8 teachers.

Sir Nilesh Pai, Programme Officer of the school briefed the students on the NSS aims & objectives, their role as volunteers, the pride of wearing NSS Badge while performing any NSS activity and later students took NSS Oath/Pledge and Pledge of Swachhta. Students were also informed about the importance of Swachhta Hi Seva by an awareness talk on Intercom by NSS volunteer Iliyan Nazarali.
The volunteers, including students, P.O's, and teachers, gathered at the Panjim Municipal Market to clean various areas both inside and around the market premises. Additionally, a group of Social Reach Out Club and NSS volunteers, led by Tr. Archana Shetye, performed an awareness skit on "Swachhata Hi Seva" to emphasize the significance of maintaining cleanliness and a green environment. This was followed by a Swachhta rally back to school. The activity photos and video link of the programme were uploaded on Swachhta Hi Seva, Govt. of India website and appreciation certificate was generated.
The cleanliness drive proved to be a resounding success. Students gained environmental awareness, teamwork, and civic responsibility through the cleanliness drive while earning recognition.
