The students and teachers, interested in learning how to prevent computer-related crimes and trends in cyber crimes and their consequences, clarified their doubts as an expert. Resource person, Professor Dr. G. Shaber Ali shared detailed insights on cyber safe practices via a talk organised by the Little Police Club of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim Goa on January 14, 2023 in the Bicentenary hall of the school.
The talk aimed at identifying the problems faced by the students with respect to the cyber crimes and sensitising students about cyber law and security and its preventive measures.

The session started with a formal welcome by the Class Leaders, followed by the introduction of the Resource Person by Miss Flavia Oliveira, student of class XI Sc with the comperes Mast. Lyndon Varghese and Miss Michelle Mascarenhas. The speaker was felicitated with a potted plant and a momento.

Dr. G. Shaber Ali, Principal of V.M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar Panjim Goa, shared detailed insights on cyber crimes and showcased the case studies on various types of cyber frauds and cyber crime techniques, some of which had occurred recently in Goa. His deliberations focussed on online financial frauds arising out of misuse of credit cards, ATM cards and internet banking further creating awareness on the preventive measures one should be taking.
“Access to the internet and social media is exposing young people to cyber crimes because they are not aware of the information they are sharing or the risks it poses”, said Dr. Shaber Ali. Briefly at the webinar, he explained the importance of cyber ethics while using android phones and social media applications. He concluded by saying, “To protect yourself from becoming a victim of cyber crime, you must first understand the nature of cyber crimes, the impact of cyber attacks on its victims and the laws related to cyber crimes”.
The talk was followed by a question and answer round and the students' interaction with the speaker to obtain a better understanding of privacy threats, fake calls, public Wi-Fi usage etc.
Vote of Thanks was proposed by Master Nigel Lobo.
