FRESHERS' WELCOME 2026: A NEW BEGINNING, A SHARED JOURNEY

QUICK BITE -

On 13th June 2026, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School warmly welcomed the students of Standard XI through a meaningful and inspiring Freshers' Welcome Programme, marking the beginning of their Higher Secondary journey.
The day commenced with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, invoking God's blessings upon the students as they embarked on a new phase of their academic life. The celebration created a prayerful atmosphere, encouraging the students to begin the year with faith, hope, and gratitude.
The programme then continued in the Bicentenary Hall, where the freshers received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the students of Standard XII through a series of vibrant cultural performances. The event opened with a prayer in honour of St. Anthony, led by Tr. Mitchel and her team of students, setting a serene and reflective tone for the gathering.

Sir Yehwant Goankar formally welcomed the new students and introduced the members of the teaching faculty, helping the freshers become acquainted with the educators who would accompany them throughout their Higher Secondary journey.
The cultural programme beautifully blended entertainment with valuable life lessons. Students of XII Commerce A presented a thought-provoking skit portraying the anxieties and challenges faced by new students while offering practical advice on how to adapt, excel, and make the most of school life. This was followed by an inspiring live band performance by the students of Standard XII, whose motivational songs filled the hall with enthusiasm and positivity.

One of the highlights of the programme was a captivating dance tribute to the legendary Michael Jackson, performed by students from the Science and Commerce streams. The audience was equally entertained by a lively comic skit presented by XII Science A, which brought laughter and energy to the occasion. The programme concluded with a graceful dance performance by XII Commerce A, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.
Beyond its cultural splendour, the programme served as a meaningful orientation for the newcomers. Through music, drama, dance, and inspiring messages, the freshers were introduced to the core values of Don Bosco—discipline, confidence, perseverance, respect, and active participation in school life.
The presence of distinguished alumni and academic achievers added a special dimension to the celebration. Esha Kamat, an alumna of the institution, fondly recalled her school days and encouraged the students to participate wholeheartedly in the numerous opportunities the school offers.

In a recorded video message, Vedanta Verma, topper of the Commerce Stream, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the teachers for their unwavering guidance and support throughout her academic journey.
Christian D'Souza, topper of the Science Stream, shared his disciplined study routine and emphasised that the dedicated guidance provided by the teachers at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School enabled him to excel without the need for external coaching.
Kaashvi Dhawan, second topper in the Arts Stream, reflected on how the school's holistic formation programmes and the constant encouragement of her teachers helped shape her personality and contributed significantly to her outstanding performance in the Goa Board Examination.

Students of Standard XII who achieved 100% attendance during the academic year were felicitated and briefly interviewed, inspiring the freshers through their commitment, discipline, and consistency.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Tamatur Cardoso unveiled the school's new motto:
"Grow in Wisdom... Glow in Virtue... The Don Bosco Way."
His message encouraged every student to strive not only for academic excellence but also for moral integrity, character formation, and holistic growth in the true spirit of Don Bosco.
The Freshers' Welcome Programme concluded on a joyous and inspiring note. It successfully introduced the new students to the rich traditions, values, and vibrant culture of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, leaving them feeling welcomed, motivated, and eager to begin their journey with confidence, purpose, and enthusiasm.
