HONOURING ST. DOMINIC SAVIO: THE FEAST… A CELEBRATION OF FAITH

QUICK BITE -

On the 6th of July, 2024, our Higher Secondary students gathered in reverence and celebration for the feast Mass dedicated to St. Dominic Savio, under the theme 'Like St. Dominic Savio... Be DB Pride'. The atmosphere was one of solemnity and reflection, as Fr. Joe delivered a meaningful homily.

Fr. Joe (sdb) began his homily by drawing inspiration from a striking message he encountered during his travel from Mapusa to Panjim that he spotted on a billboard: "Sin is the new love". He said that people have lost the sense of sin and that they love to sin. Fr. highlighted the seven capital sins that are linked in modern times to social media. His words served as a call to vigilance and a reminder of the importance of moral integrity in today's world. Central to Fr. Joe's message were the virtues exemplified by St. Dominic Savio himself. Fr. Joe emphasized on St. Dominic Savio's courage and unwavering commitment to holiness, from a young age. Fr. Joe emphasized three fundamental principles: loving God, loving one's neighbour, and loving oneself. He encouraged everyone present to cultivate these virtues in their daily lives. Fr. also highlighted the story of St. Maria Goretti, who lived a life of purity till her last breath and forgave her accused.

##The liturgy itself was carefully crafted to reflect the spirit of St. Dominic Savio. Symbolic pictures; elements and quotations from the life of St. Dominic Savio were seamlessly integrated into the Mass, enriching the experience of all those who attended the Mass.
Participants described the Mass as a profoundly moving and meaningful experience. The combination of Fr. Joe's insightful homily, the rich symbolism of the liturgy, and the collective reflection on St. Dominic Savio's life left a lasting impression on all who attended it. It was a reminder of the enduring relevance of St. Dominic Savio's example and a call to embrace his legacy with pride and dedication.

##In conclusion, the feast Mass of St. Dominic Savio was not just a religious observance, but a profound spiritual journey for all involved. It reaffirmed the values of faith, integrity, and compassion, inspiring the school community to strive for holiness, to be like St. Dominic Savio to be DB Pride.
The teachers incharge for the Mass animation and liturgy were: tr. Mitchel S. Cota & tr. Muriel Alphonso. The teachers incharge for the choir were tr. Standy Braganza and tr. Ana Karina Diniz.
