Theatre Workshop

QUICK BITE - “It is never too late to change your work field and follow what you like.”


We must all do theatre, to find out who we are and to discover who we could become goes the popular saying by Augusto Boal. Initiating this journey of self -discovery, the Theatre Club of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim organized a Theatre Workshop on December 16, 2021.


Rev. Fr. Clive Telles, Principal, in his welcome address appreciated the efforts and enthusiasm of the theatre club in organizing the theatre workshop. He opined that through active participation in the workshop, students would be able to overcome stage fright, and hone their acting skills. He informed the students that the acting workshop was well-crafted by Dr. Tanvi Bambolkar, curated, especially for the budding actors of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim.


Quoting Shakespeare Rev.Fr. Telles said that All the worlds a stage and all the men and women merely players, they have their exits and their entrances. He encouraged students to play their role in the journey of life well, leading exemplary lives in society. Thereafter Trini Bras De Sa introduced the resource person, Dr. Tanvi Bambolkar who is currently an Asst. Professor of English at the Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce Quepem.
The workshop began with a series of theatre activities and games under the able guidance of Dr. Tanvi Bambolkar. Dr. Tanvi encouraged students to let go of their inhibitions and helped the participants to discover their unique acting style. Through theatre games students were able to push physical, mental and emotional boundaries in an attempt of self-discovery thus understanding the basics of theatre. In the second segment the students were divided into two teams, each team put up a short skit, which was critically evaluated by the opposition team using the techniques learnt in the workshop. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Tr. Bianca Fernandes, coordinator of the Theatre Club. Tarini Bras De Sa compered the Programme.
