Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim celebrates “Reading Day”


As part of the ‘Read India Programme 2022’, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim celebrated ‘Reading Day’ on September 22, 2022 in the school Library. The programme began with the welcome address by the Librarian Mrs. Joyce Pereira. Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Joyce encouraged the students to visit the library more often stating that books are a storehouse of knowledge and will help a student achieve success in life.


Thereafter Ms. Joyce Yadav student of standard XII Arts read the news headlines and spoke of the importance of newspapers in the spread of factual information especially in the digital era where fake viral news abounds. Shawn Menseses from XII Commerce B enacted a Shakespearean Soliloquy from the play Macbeth. Hayden Fernandes from XII Commerce A read a famous speech delivered by Mother Theresa. Alia Dias, a student from the XI Arts presented her poem titled ‘Inevitable Fate’. To conclude the programme Tr. Bianca Fernandes recited the poem ‘The Solitary Reaper’ by William Wordsworth. Ishita Kumbhakar from the XI Arts compered the programme and Tarini Bras De Sa from the XII Arts Delivered the vote of thanks.


The programme was organized by the theatre club with an aim of developing the reading habits of the students and to provide a platform to read, perform and share their reading experiences
